
Wet Bottom Shoofly Pie
A traditional favorite here in Pennsylvania. Great for breakfast and/or dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tsp baking soda
Crumbs:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tblsps melted butter
Your favorite pie crust recipe
Instructions
- Beat egg, & add molasses
- Dissolve baking soda in hot tap water & add to egg & molasses
- Mix with hands the crumbs: flour, brown sugar & melted butter
- Save half cup of crumbs to sprinkle on top of pie
- Put remaining crumbs mixture into the gooey mixture & beat
- Place the prepared pie crust in a 9 inch pie pan
- Fill the pie pan with the gooey molasses batter
- Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of crumbs
- Bake in 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes or until done
