Oatmeal Carmelitas

This recipe for caramel oatmeal bars is a tasty quick fix for either breakfast, desert or snacks. Great idea as an after dinner treat with coffee or tea when entertaining guests

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz. caramel
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 cups flour all purpose
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions
 

  • Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and melted butter in mixing bowl and proceed to mix.
  • Press half of crumbs into the bottom of a greased 13×9 pan and bake for 10 mins. @ 350*F
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle one cup semi-sweet chocolate and one cup of chopped pecans
  • Spread evenly with melted caramel
  • Top with remaining crumb mixture and place in pre-heated oven @ 350*F for approx. 20 mins.
