
Oatmeal Carmelitas
This recipe for caramel oatmeal bars is a tasty quick fix for either breakfast, desert or snacks. Great idea as an after dinner treat with coffee or tea when entertaining guests
Ingredients
- 14 oz. caramel
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 2 cups flour all purpose
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup butter melted
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and melted butter in mixing bowl and proceed to mix.
- Press half of crumbs into the bottom of a greased 13×9 pan and bake for 10 mins. @ 350*F
- Remove from oven and sprinkle one cup semi-sweet chocolate and one cup of chopped pecans
- Spread evenly with melted caramel
- Top with remaining crumb mixture and place in pre-heated oven @ 350*F for approx. 20 mins.
